Text Box: Recycling Info Making New Products from Old New ways to use recyclable materials are invented all the time. Here are some of the things those commonly recycled materials are used for: Paper products such as newspapers, flyers, telephone directories, magazines, catalogues, boxboard and cardboard can be shredded, wetted to make pulp and turned into recycled paper products such as building insulation, animal bedding, magazine paper and newspaper. Computer paper can be recycled into tissue and toweling. Office paper can be recycled into paper towels, tissue, napkins, fine writing paper and topliners for boxes. Glass food and beverage containers can be melted and blown into new glass containers ground into powder for the fiberglass industry or sandblasting or crushed and used as fill to improve drainage in construction projects or used in road construction. #1 plastic (PETE) can be ground and used to manufacture fibre for the textile industry to make specialty products, clothing, carpet and bottles. It can also be used for sandblasting. #2 plastic (HDPE) can be ground and melted to make recycled plastic lumber, bottles, toys and bags. Metal cans can be remade into rebar and angle iron.
