What is Commercial Single Stream Recycling? A system in which most paper fibers, plastics, and some metals are collected and mixed together in a recycling container, rather than sorted into separate commodities by the business, and handled separately throughout the collection process.
How does the Program work? 1. Designated materials are gathered at individual sites throughout your place of business. 2. Your janitorial staff or “green team” gather materials, in easily transported containers, to the proper compactor location. 3. Materials are kept in a recycling container until it is ready for switch out. 4. You call City Carton Recycling to request a switch out. 5. Within three business days, we complete the switch out.

Savings & Fees Sort rate Charge of $25.00 per net ton = Cost savings of $10 per pull from the standard $35/ton landfill charge.
$75.00 per ton charge for excessive contaminants in a load. This is determined by a higher than 10% load of Non-Acceptable materials from Single Stream list.
Pull charge for 20 yard box and 40 yard box: -$75 charge for in town (Cedar Rapids) pickup. -$100 charge for rural Linn County pickup. -For counties just outside of Linn County: All pull charges to be determined by distance from City Carton Recycling Facility.
Hauling Advantages Material is being picked up by City Carton Recycling guaranteeing the material will get recycled.
Savings up to 50% when compared to other hauling charges up to $150 per pull.

Option Two Collection: Using a Hauler’s Container to Collect Materials Outside » City Carton Recycling has partnerships with waste haulers to provide a closed-top container for your recyclables. » Containers can hold 500 to 2,000 pounds of materials. » City Carton Recycling will coordinate pick-ups with haulers and process your material at our Cedar Rapids recycling facility. » Service is optimal for businesses with too much material to hold inside, but not enough to suit a compactor.
Option Three Valet Service for Small Containers » City Carton Recycling offers, for purchase and loan, Two-Wheeled Carts for office or factory areas.
