Text Box: City Carton Recycling/Ockenfels Family Foundation 15th Annual Charity Golf Outing Tuesday, August 11, 2009 $97,500+ Raised At City Carton Recycling / Ockenfels Family Foundation 15th Annual Charity Golf Outing A NEW RECORD! Over $97,500 has been raised to date from the City Carton Recycling / Ockenfels Family Foundation 15th Annual Charity Golf Outing. The Outing benefits the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) children’s programs through the “Debbie Ockenfels - Kids Rock!” Foundation. Portions of the Outing proceeds also are donated to “The Heart Connection” - a camp for kids with cancer and their siblings and the ACS’s Scholarship Program. All Outing expenses are paid by the Ockenfels Family Foundation. The Outing is held in memory of Deborah Ockenfels, daughter of City Carton Recycling founders Mort and Marcy. Deborah died of cancer at the age of 17. Over 160 golfers, from across the United States and Canada, teed off at the Outing. Over 40 more friends, family, and City Carton Recycling Team Members assisted with the event held August 11, 2009 at the Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville, Iowa. Money is raised for the Outing in a variety of ways. A large portion is pledged in activity and hole sponsorships prior to the Outing. "Premier" sponsors joining City Carton Recycling and the Ockenfels Family Foundation in the event this year include Trex, Pralumex, L & P Wire Tie Systems, Waste Management - Recycle America, Core Vens Insurance, Hills Bank & Trust, Point Builders LLC, Machinex, Kathy and Andy Ockenfels, IPS Balers, and Vecoplan. Raffle tickets were sold throughout the day’s event in the clubhouse and on the golf course. Raffle tickets could also be won by the golfers as they tested their skill at various course games, conducted by the 40+ volunteers. Raffle prizes were donated by City Carton Recycling’s friends, customers, and suppliers. A “Wrap Up” party with food and beverage was held after the Outing. During this event, sponsorship gifts and golfing trophies were awarded. A live auction completed the evening, with auctioneers from Richard Realty and Auction, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, donating their time and talent. THANKS TO YOU… Over $659,400 has been raised and donated to the American Cancer Society and children’s cancer programs since the start of the Charity Golf Outing 15 years ago.
