Plastic Bottles & Jugs: Check the bottom of the container for the recycling logo.  Inside the logo is a number identifying the type of plastic.  Generally, plastics accepted for recycling in Cedar Rapids are type 1 - 7.  These plastics tend to be:

Containers must be rinsed and crushed.

Please discard all plastic caps and lids.

Newspapers: Supplements that come in the newspapers can stay with the papers, then place in our drop-off container loose.

Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard only. Please flatten and stack. Drop-off site available at City Carton Recycling, 901 Ingleside Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids for residential community. The business community will need to call (319) 362-8714 for further details.

Glass Bottles and Jars: Clear, brown and green glass jars and bottles accepted.  Food and beverage containers only.  These containers must be rinsed and the lids removed.  (Metal lids can go with the tin cans).  Please separate by color and place in appropriate drop box.

Tin Cans: All tin and aluminum cans are acceptable.  Metal lids from glass jars are also acceptable.  Please rinse the can and remove the labels if possible.  Crush the can or stack smaller ones inside large cans.

Phone Books: All phonebooks accepted.  Please remove all plastic wrap around phonebooks.  Please place in designated drop box.

Hard Cover Books: Hard cover books accepted.  Please place in designated drop box.

5-Cent Deposit Cans & 5-Cent Plastic Bottles: Place deposit cans and plastic deposit bottles in appropriate container.  No Glass Please.  The redemption value of your contribution goes to Daybreak Rotary Club, for distribution to worthwhile projects in the Cedar Rapids area for needy children.
